The digital assets for this piece were created using a combination of tools. I began with a pencil and paper, drawing the trees from a few example photographs. In order to keep the pine branches feeling lively, I envisioned the plant itself growing toward the sun, as if I was the chlorophyll inside the branches fighting to burst through the seams and reach the light at the surface. The tree forms were then brought into Adobe Draw, where I created a PNG with a transparent background. This image was saved and brought into ProCreate, where I created the moon, beginning with a freehand circle and applying textures and color layers to the surface, effectively creating spherical form with a tangible, rough, realistic surface. The color washes, cloud effects, water and light (including the Nebula brush) were also incorporated through ProCreate.
